Furniture Casters for Carpet
Our selection offers 5 different styles to fit most decors. Each lettered description here will match a lettered box further down this page. Click on the corresponding pictures in the boxes A, B, C, D & E to get detailed information on that product.

A.  Unhooded Casters with Spoked Twin Nylon Wheels are suggested for infrequently moved objects such as furniture and store fixtures. This caster is also recommended for office chairs which roll directlly on carpet. They come only with 60mm wheels. A wheel brake is an optional feature.

B.  Hooded Nylon Casters with Twin Nylon Wheels are suggested for infrequently moved objects such as furniture and store fixtures. Available with 50mm or 60mm wheels and an optional brake. This caster is recommended only for carpet.
C.  Hooded Twin Wheel Casters with Polyurethane Tires is available with 50mm polyurethane wheels. This caster will work well on either hard floor surfaces or short pile carpet.
D.  Metal Hooded Twin Wheel Casters with Polyurethane Tires offers 4 decorative colors. These casters have polyurethane wheels which can be used on both hard and carpeted floor surfaces. Available in both 50mm or 60mm wheel diameters.

E.  The Elite series offers a stylish polyurethane wheel which can be used on either hard floors or carpeting. It is only available with a 3" diameter wheel and has the highest capacity of the casters listed here.

Some casters on this page are sold in both 50mm and 60mm sizes. This is a comparison between the two different sizes. Casters on most chairs and furniture have 50mm wheels and work fine for most applications. If you require additional capacity or are going to roll on carpet, you may want to consider the 60mm size.

If you are in a chair many hours each day and your weight exceeds 200 lbs, we suggest you consider using casters with at least 3" diameter wheels. Capacity is only one factor in determining the proper caster.

If your weight is between 350 lbs and 500 lbs, our Mr. Big Caster may be your best choice. It only comes with nylon wheels and will require a thick mat to protect wood floors. Nylon wheels are the best material when rolling directly on carpet but carpet wear can not be avoided. For more information, and to order, click here.

Attach caster by drilling a 3/8" x 1 5/8" hole. Install socket, then insert caster.

Metal Socket for use with Grip Neck Stem
Commonly called a "Caster Clip", this socket is designed to install casters on the edge of 3/4" or 1" Particle Board, MDF or similar sheet goods. Attach caster by drilling a 3/8" x 1 5/8" hole. Install socket, then insert caster. You may want to "drill & tack nail" the bottom face or add some silicon sealer to the hole when installing.

Sombrero Socket		 Metal Socket for use with Grip Ring Stem
This socket is used to install casters with a 7/16" Diameter Grip Ring Stem on WOOD furniture.

To attach, drill a 5/8" x 1 1/2" hole. Insert socket and attach with 1/4" wood screws ( Not supplied ). Insert caster into socket.

Part Number MS-S10X		 Metal Socket for use with Grip Ring Stem
This socket is used to install casters with a 7/16" Diameter Grip Ring Stem on WOOD or Steel furniture. The Tack Plate Diameter is approx 1" and the overall length is 1.46"
To attach in wood, drill a 5/8" x 1 1/2" hole. Apply Epoxy Glue** ( Not supplied ) to socket and insert into hole. Allow to harden before inserting caster into socket. ( This socket is not plated and can also be welded to steel. )

** Use a 2 part Epoxy available at Home Depot, Lowes or any Hardware Store.
