Furniture Casters for Hardwood Floors
Many home owners and businesses are tearing out carpeting and installing wood floors. To protect these floors you need to use a soft wheel. Although most recommendations are for a soft rubber wheel on hardwood, a soft polyurethane caster wheel can also be used on hardwood floors. The wheels on our furniture casters for hardwood floors will not mark or scratch the floors.

Our selection offers 5 different styles to fit most decors;
  1. The Black Unhooded Twin Wheel Caster is available with either 50mm or 60mm Polyurethane Wheels. This caster will work well on either hard floor surfaces or carpet. It will not mark or scratch any hardwood floors.
  2. The Metal Hooded Twin Wheel Caster comes in 4 decorative colors and with either 50mm or 60mm Polyurethane Wheels. . These casters will work well on either hard floor surfaces or carpet. They will not mark or scratch any hardwood floors.
  3. The Black Oxide Caster has a ball bearing swivel and a Non-Marking dark gray soft rubber wheel. It is recommended for any hard floor surface such as hardwood, ceramic tile, marble, cement, extra thick plastic mats. The wheel is 2" x 3/4" wide. The metal body has a black oxide finish.
  4. The Twin Gray Soft Rubber Wheel Caster is available with 2" ( 50mm ) or 3" ( 75mm ) wheels. The gray soft rubber wheels neither scratch nor mark hard wood floors. These casters will work well on either hard floor surfaces.
  5. The Chrome Caster, our Elite series, offers both soft rubber wheels for hardwood floors and a stylish polyurethane wheel which can be used on either hardwood floors or carpeting. The soft rubber wheel is available in both 2" and 3" diameters. Although we do not recommend any caster for a SOFT WOOD floor such as Pine, the Elite series with it's extra soft rubber wheels has been used successfully on SOFT WOOD floors.
Some casters on this page are sold in both 50mm and 60mm sizes. This is a comparison between the two different sizes. Casters on most chairs and furniture have 50mm wheels and work fine for most applications. If you require additional capacity or are going to roll on carpet, you may want to consider the 60mm size.

Metal Socket for use with Grip Neck Stem
Commonly called a "Caster Clip", this socket is designed to install casters on the edge of 3/4" or 1" Particle Board, MDF or similar sheet goods. Color is Flat Black. Attach caster by drilling a 3/8" x 1 5/8" hole. Install socket, then insert caster. You may want to "drill & tack nail" the bottom face or add some silicon sealer to the hole when installing.

Sombrero Socket		 Metal Socket for use with Grip Ring Stem
This socket is used to install casters with a 7/16" Diameter Grip Ring Stem on WOOD furniture.

To attach, drill a 5/8" x 1 1/2" hole. Insert socket and attach with 1/4" wood screws ( Not supplied ). Insert caster into socket.

Part Number MS-S10X		 Metal Socket for use with Grip Ring Stem
This socket is used to install casters with a 7/16" Diameter Grip Ring Stem on WOOD or Steel furniture. The Tack Plate Diameter is approx 1" and the overall length is 1.46"
To attach in wood, drill a 5/8" x 1 1/2" hole. Apply Epoxy Glue** ( Not supplied ) to socket and insert into hole. Allow to harden before inserting caster into socket. ( This socket is not plated and can also be welded to steel. )

** Use a 2 part Epoxy available at Home Depot, Lowes or any Hardware Store.

Unhooded Twin Wheel Casters with Polyurethane Tires
Features & Benefits:
  • Recommended for any hard floor surface: hardwood, ceramic tile, marble, cement, extra thick plastic mats. Can also be used on carpet. If using on thick carpet, choose the 60mm wheel diameter.
  • When used on carpets, normal carpet wear can be expected.
  • Polyurethane will not mark or scratch hard floor surfaces.
  • Nylon Body - Unhooded
  • Choice of mountings.
  • Grip Neck Stem & Grip Ring Stem are available with or without a socket.
  • Available with 50mm or 60mm wheels.
  • 60mm will roll easier than the smaller 50mm wheel on all floor surfaces. If used on carpet, choose the 60mm.
  • Color: Flat Black ( Only )

Elite Chrome Casters with Rubber & Polyurethane Tires
Features & Benefits:
  • Designed for frequent movement on an Executive or Clerical chair.
  • Soft rubber wheels will protect any hard floor surface: hardwood, ceramic tile, marble, cement or extra thick plastic mats.
  • Select polyurethane for carpet or hard floors. It is less resilient than soft rubber.
  • The Crown Tread on the wheels enhance the ability to swivel or change direction.
  • Precision sealed ball bearing in the wheel provides easy rolling and never needs maintenance.
  • The swivel bearing has two heat treated raceways for easy swiveling and long caster life.
  • Bright chrome finish gives a clean, elegant appearance.
  • The Black Extra Soft Rubber wheels are available in 2" or 3" diameter. They provide an extra cushion ride and are recommended for hard floors.
  • The Gray Soft Rubber wheel is available only in a 2" diameter and is recommended for hard floors. It is slightlly easier rolling and slightly less resilient than the 2" Black Extra Soft Rubber wheel.
  • The Polyurethane wheel is available only in a 3" diameter and can be used on either hard floors or carpet. It is less resilient than the either of the Soft Rubber wheels.
  • We do not warrant any wheel for a Soft Wood Floor. However, in many instances this Elite Caster with a Black Extra Soft Rubber wheel has performed without harming the soft wood.
