Threaded stem casters are the most common type of stem caster. They have a threaded stem on top that screws into a tapped threaded hole, passes through a hole in which it is held in place with your lock washer and nut, or a welded nut inside of tubing. Caster City’s stem casters allow your equipment to roll, which reduces the effort it takes to move or reposition the equipment. Threaded stem casters are typically used when there is not enough room on the equipment’s mounting surface to attach a plate caster’s mounting plate.

Caster City manufactures zinc stem casters that can support up to 1500 lbs per caster, found here.

Expanding rubber stem casters are designed to mount the caster into round or square tubing.  Turning the hex nut beneath the lower raceway on the swivel caster expands the rubber stem adapter inside of the round or square tubing for a tight fit, as shown here. Caster City offers various expanding rubber stem sizes.  Caster City manufactures expanding rubber stem kits to fit an Inner Diameter range of 3/4″ to 1-13/16″ Inner Diameter metal tubing.  See the chart below.

We manufacture all stem casters in Stainless Steel as well.

Grip ring stem casters come in two sizes and are designed to fit into tubing or a socket that is securely attached to the equipment.  The grip ring, also called a compression ring, is a ring on the stem that compresses as it is pressed up into the tubing or socket. It is squeezed and then expands against the tubing walls which creates the force that keeps the casters from falling out should the equipment come off of the ground or floor.  Load capacities range from 80lbs to 300lbs.

Caster City manufactures stem casters that have one or more cross holes to bolt the stem of the caster into equipment.  The stems are solid metal with a  round or square shape.  They can be attached to equipment built from structural framing to allow the equipment to roll or move.  The shape and size of the stem determines the type of frame the caster will fit into.  Pins or bolts are installed into cross-drilled mounting holes in the framing and the caster’s stem to secure the caster in place on the equipment.  Load capacities up to 300lbs per each stem caster.

Hollow Kingpin casters have a 1/2″ diameter hole in the center of a swivel caster where the stem would normally be.  This design enables you to supply your own bolt for a stem so you can use any length needed for your application.  Hollow Kingpin casters are typically used when there is not enough room on the equipment’s mounting surface to attach a plate.  This caster has a 1/2″ diameter hole for your BOLT.
