Total Locking Casters – Caster Model 3A – Stem Caster
|Capacity up to 300 pounds per caster. |
These institutional casters are ideal for any light duty application where the caster must be totally immobile when the caster brake is applied. Caster Model 3A has a unique brake which locks both the wheel and the swivel bearing at the same time. This “Total-Lock” brake insures that the swivel caster will not turn when the wheel is locked. This combination wheel brake and swivel lock is essential for safety in some applications – such as on worktables, tablesaws, and medical equipment. The Total-Lock brake is desireable whenever a brake is needed because it makes a swivel caster totally immobile.

|You should never select on the basis of load capacity alone. There is no industry standard for load capacity ratings and they may not include a factor for abuse. Our capacity ratings are below what the casters are capable of carrying because most applications have less than perfect conditions. Please refer to the information shown at the bottom of this page. If you have any doubt as to which wheel or caster is the BEST choice for your application contact us for a recommendation.|

Use the Polyolefin ( Industrial Plastic ) wheel for "Standing Loads". Polyolefin wheels eliminate the possiblilty of a flat spot developing on the surfiace of polyurethane and rubber tires when the weight exceeds 2/3 of the rated capacity when the object is left parked most of the time .
Threaded Stem Casters should NOT be used as a "Leveling Device"! Capacity ratings are based on the weight being directly on the top of the swivel bearing, not somewhere above it on the threaded stem.
You should never select on the basis of load capacity alone. Capacity ratings do not take into account the effort required to manually move a load. Capacity ratings are based on manual operation under ideal conditions. If these casters are going to be moved by mechanically powered equipment, consult us for a reduced capacity rating based on your application.
