Description
3″ Gray Soft Rubber with Precision Ball Bearings. Shown with 5″ Wheel.
Swivel and Rigid Model K3 caster frames are made from stamped steel that is plated in zinc for enhanced corrosion resistance. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster raceway is held together by a ½” diameter rivet. Plate Caster Model K3 caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. This caster’s larger plate size makes it easier to fabricate with, which is it’s primary selling point. We do not recommend you put more than 1200 lbs of weight on four of these plate casters, please consult with us first.
This caster comes with a gray, non-marking, injection molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. The axle diameter of this caster wheel is ⅜” and the width of the wheel is 1-¼”.The durometer of this soft gray rubber caster wheel is 90-95A, making it ideal for vibration and noise reduction. This institutional gray soft rubber caster wheel is completed with plastic thread guards which act as spanner bushings for the sealed precision ball bearing in the center of the hub, providing ample protection for the bearing from direct moisture contact. These caster wheels should not be left standing under load for extended periods as the tires may take a permanent “set” or develop flat spots.
In a food service production area where carts need to roll quietly without scratching the floors, Caster City’s Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel keeps operations running smoothly. Its gray non-marking thermoplastic rubber tread, bonded to a polyolefin center, takes in shocks to protect both the cart and delicate goods, gliding over small obstacles without a fuss. With precision sealed ball bearings that don’t need any upkeep, this wheel reduces noise and vibration, making it a great fit for hospitals, pharmaceutical labs, and food service environments where clean, quiet movement is essential.
This wheel can handle exposure to chemicals and solvents without a problem, but it’s not built for heavy abuse—avoid overloading, rough surfaces, or letting it sit under a load for too long, as that can cause flat spots. When moving it by hand, cut the load capacity by 50% for easier pushing, and choose the largest diameter possible to keep things rolling smoothly. Designed for dry factory floors, the Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel safeguards expensive surfaces and prolongs equipment life, but watch out for harsh impacts or heat buildup that could impact the bonding over time.
