Description
3″ Blue/Gray Polyurethane on Polyolefin. Shown in photo with 5″ wheel. Rigid Caster SS K3A are formed with stamped 304 stainless steel. The rigid caster is a cold forged one piece construction. The mounting plate is 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” and the hole pattern is slotted to : 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” – 3”. This rigid caster is chosen when you need to steer in a direct line and you do not require swivel capabilities. This rigid caster uses a 3/8” diameter axle bolt with a latching nut. You can order a lube axle with a grease fitting in the bold head if you need to grease a wheel The K3A Rigid was designed for hand powered applications only. It is not built to handle industrial abuse in any way or kind When hand powering loads, choose the bigger practical diameter. K3A rigid caster and some of the wheels it offers are NSF and ROHS compliant.
The Economy Stainless Steel Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin is built tough for wet, corrosive environments where hygiene and durability are non-negotiable. Crafted from stamped stainless steel, it fights rust and stands up to harsh conditions—think labs, hospitals, or food plants. Its swivel skips the dust cap, adds a drain hole to shed water, and ditches the grease fitting to slash maintenance and costs. It’s reliable mobility for those who need it without breaking the bank.
The Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin rolls smooth, stays quiet, and won’t mark floors—perfect for smooth surfaces up to 300 pounds per caster (150 pounds parked). With a polyurethane tread fused to a polyolefin core, plus sealed ball bearings and thread guards, it resists chemicals and corrosion while keeping performance tight. It’s not made for rough terrain or heavy shocks, but it shines where cleanliness and floor care are critical.
This caster fits right into settings like research labs, healthcare facilities, or food service—anyplace demanding sanitation and low noise. It’s a solid pick for light industrial use on smooth floors, delivering no-fuss movement with lasting quality.
Applications:
- Research laboratories

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about the Economy Stainless Steel Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin
What is the load capacity of the Economy Stainless Steel Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin?
The load capacity is up to 300 pounds per caster. For applications where the caster is parked for extended periods, do not exceed 50% of the rated capacity (150 pounds per caster) to maintain wheel integrity.
In what environments is this caster and wheel combination best suited?
This combination excels in wet or corrosive environments, such as research laboratories, hospitals, food service areas, schools, bakeries, and other institutional settings. The stainless steel construction and polyurethane wheel resist corrosion and chemical exposure.
What are the key features of the Model K3 caster?
The Model K3 caster is crafted from stamped stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance. Its swivel design lacks a dust cap and includes a drain hole in the swivel bearing to prevent water buildup. It also omits a grease fitting, lowering initial cost and maintenance needs.
What are the advantages of the Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin?
The Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin is non-marking, rolls smoothly on even surfaces, and resists many chemicals and solvents. It features precision sealed ball bearings for effortless movement and thread guards to shield bearings from corrosion and debris.
In which industries is the Model K3 caster with Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin commonly used?
It’s widely used in research laboratories, hospitals, food service, schools, bakeries, and institutional settings, as well as light industrial environments with smooth floors.
What are the limitations of the Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin?
This wheel isn’t suited for shock loads, impacts, floor obstructions, or static loads. It performs best on smooth floors—rough or uneven surfaces can damage it. For parked applications, limit the load to 150 pounds per caster.
How should I use the Model K3 caster with Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin to ensure optimal performance and longevity?
Use it on smooth, clean floors, avoid overloading, and protect it from shock or impact. For prolonged parking, keep the load at or below 150 pounds per caster. Regular cleaning and wear inspections are advised.
Can the Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin be used on any floor surface?
No, it’s designed for smooth floors only. Rough, uneven, or cluttered surfaces can harm the wheel and shorten its lifespan.
Why is there no grease fitting on the Model K3 caster?
Skipping the grease fitting cuts costs and eliminates lubrication needs, making it more economical and practical for wet or corrosive settings where grease might not work well.
How does the swivel design of the Model K3 caster prevent water collection?
Without a dust cap over the ball bearings and with a drain hole in the swivel bearing, water flows through rather than pooling—key for preventing corrosion in wet conditions.
What is the material and construction of the Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin?
It’s made of injection-molded polyurethane bonded to a polyolefin core, with a Shore 95A durometer. It includes precision sealed ball bearings and comes in red, gray, black, or blue, suitable for temperatures from 32°F to 180°F.
What is the purpose of the thread guards on the Polyurethane Wheel on Polyolefin?
Thread guards serve as spanner bushings, safeguarding the sealed ball bearings from corrosion and keeping threads from jamming the axle, ensuring smooth rotation.
