FAQ
FAQ – Questions & Answers
What is the HU Heavy Duty Gray Solid Polyurethane Wheel in the Complete Stainless Steel Model 9 Rigid Caster designed for?
This caster is engineered for heavy-duty, straight-line movement in sanitary, wet, and corrosive environments like food processing, pharmaceutical facilities, and hospitals, where stability and durability are critical.
What are the key features of the HU wheel in this caster?
The HU wheel is made of solid polyurethane with a Shore D 65 durometer and a glass-filled nylon bearing collar, offering strength, low rolling resistance, and durability for heavy loads.
Why choose the Complete Stainless Steel Model 9 rigid bracket for this caster?
Constructed from 304 stainless steel with an electrolytic finish, the Model 9 rigid bracket resists corrosion, meets NSF and ROHS standards, and ensures reliable performance in washdown settings.
What bearing options does the HU wheel support in this caster?
The HU wheel supports multiple bearing types, including precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings, delrin bearings, or stainless steel versions of each, adaptable to various operational needs.
How does the Shore D 65 durometer benefit the HU wheel?
The Shore D 65 durometer provides a balance of hardness and flexibility, ensuring wear resistance, durability, and smooth rolling under heavy loads.
What temperatures can this caster handle?
The HU wheel functions effectively from -50° to 180° F, suitable for cold storage and warm washdown environments alike.
How does the rigid design enhance this caster’s performance?
The Model 9’s rigid design offers stability and precise straight-line tracking, making it ideal for applications like conveyor systems or long, straight runs in industrial settings.
Is this caster suitable for dry environments?
While it excels in wet and corrosive settings, the Complete Stainless Steel Model 9 rigid caster performs reliably in dry conditions as well.
What maintenance is required for this caster?
Minimal upkeep is needed, thanks to a greased fitting for smooth axle movement and sealed bearing options that reduce wear and maintenance demands.
How does this caster mount to equipment?
It features a 4″ x 4-1/2″ stainless steel mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3” and a ½” stainless steel axle, compatible with most industrial setups.
What happens if static loads are too high on the HU wheel?
Static loads exceeding 60% of the wheel’s capacity for extended periods may cause flat spots, so avoid overloading when stationary.
Is this caster suitable for rough, powered applications?
No, it’s not designed for abrasive or powered use. For those conditions, consider a model like the G15 and call 800-501-3808 for guidance.
