Description
4″ All Polyurethane. Shown in photo with 5″ wheels. K3A Stainless Steel Rigid are built with stamped 304 stainless steel. The K3A rigid is a cold forged one piece construction. The mounting plate is 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” and the hole pattern is slotted to : 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” – 3” and is designed to use a mounting bolt size of 5/16”. This rigid caster is chosen when you need to steer in a direct line and you do not require swivel capabilities. This rigid caster uses a 3/8” diameter axle bolt with a latching nut. You can order a lube axle with a grease fitting in the bold head if you need to grease a wheel The K3A Rigid was designed for hand powered applications only. It is not built to handle industrial abuse in any way or kind When hand powering loads, choose the bigger practical diameter. K3A rigid caster and some of the wheels it offers are NSF and ROHS compliant.
This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. The blue all polyurethane (“AP”) caster wheel is manufactured in 1-¼” and 2” wide; with diameters ranging from 3”-5” and 4”-8”. Caster City manufactures this (“AP”) blue all polyurethane wheel to come with a roller bearing, delrin bearings, or a sealed precision ball bearing and all bearing options are available in stainless steel as well. The temperature range of this industrial caster wheel is -50°to 180° F and the durometer of the polyurethane is Shore 60D.
These wheels are non marking and non conductive. The absence of a metal center eliminates bond failure as a cause for wheel replacement. These caster wheels are especially suited for use with stainless steel casters in wet and corrosive applications. They are designed for use in Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Hospitals, and Food Processing Plants – wherever a clean sanitary design is desired. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads. Hardness is 60 – 65 Durometer Shore D. Temperature range is -20° to 180° F.
These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about the Economy Stainless Steel Caster Model K3 and All Polyurethane Caster Wheels “AP”
What makes the Economy Stainless Steel Caster Model K3 suitable for wet or corrosive environments?
The Model K3 caster is made from stamped stainless steel, offering excellent resistance to rust and corrosion. This makes it an ideal choice for wet or corrosive settings such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical labs, or hospitals where durability and hygiene are essential.
What is the maximum capacity of this caster?
Max capacity is 300lbs.
How does the swivel design of the Model K3 caster prevent water collection?
Unlike traditional casters, the Model K3 swivel caster lacks a dust cap over its two rows of ball bearings and features a drain hole. This open design allows water to pass through, preventing stagnation and reducing the risk of corrosion or contamination in wet environments.
Why is the Model K3 caster more cost-effective than other stainless steel casters?
The Model K3 is designed with a lower upfront cost thanks to its stamped stainless steel construction and simplified features, such as the absence of a grease fitting. This makes it an economical option without sacrificing performance in wet or corrosive conditions.
Does the Model K3 caster require lubrication or maintenance?
No grease fitting is included in the Model K3, meaning it requires less maintenance than casters needing regular lubrication. However, periodic checks are advised to ensure smooth operation, especially in harsh environments.
What are the advantages of using All Polyurethane Caster Wheels “AP” with stainless steel casters?
The “AP” wheels are solid polyurethane, non-marking, and non-conductive, making them perfect for pairing with stainless steel casters like the Model K3. They excel in wet and corrosive environments, offering floor protection and durability where cleanliness is critical.
In which industries are the “AP” polyurethane wheels particularly useful?
These wheels are highly suited for pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, and food processing plants. Their non-marking, easy-to-clean design makes them ideal for maintaining sanitary conditions in these settings.
What are the limitations or unsuitable applications for the “AP” polyurethane wheels?
The “AP” wheels are not recommended for scenarios involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floor conditions, or storage (standing) loads. They perform best on smooth surfaces with controlled loads.
What is the hardness and temperature range of the “AP” polyurethane wheels?
The wheels have a hardness of 60-65 Durometer Shore D and a temperature range of -20° to 180° F, ensuring versatility across a variety of industrial applications.
Why are the “AP” polyurethane wheels designed without a metal center?
By eliminating a metal center, the “AP” wheels avoid bond failure—a frequent cause of wheel replacement in traditional designs. This enhances their longevity, especially in wet or corrosive conditions.
How do the “AP” polyurethane wheels perform in wet environments?
Designed specifically for wet environments, the solid polyurethane construction of the “AP” wheels prevents tire separation, ensuring reliable performance and durability in moisture-heavy settings like labs or food plants.
Why is the combination of the Model K3 caster and “AP” polyurethane wheels ideal for certain applications?
The Model K3’s corrosion-resistant stainless steel and the “AP” wheels’ non-marking, wet-environment-friendly properties make this duo perfect for sanitary and corrosive environments. Together, they deliver cost-effective, low-maintenance mobility for hospitals, labs, and food processing facilities.
