Model 9 Stainless Casters are an upgrade from our Model 3 Stainless Steel plate casters. It can support up to 900lbs of weight per stainless steel caster. The Model 9 comes with ball bearings to help handle the load and thrust. The Model 9 comes with a ⅝” bolt and nut kingpin, welded together to handle common abuse in hand powered applications. The swivel caster is made of 304 stamped stainless steel The Model 9 has a greased fitting in the bearing and axle to help parts move more easily. This caster comes with 2 brake options: swivel and total locking. The axle is also built with stainless steel and has a diameter of ½”. There are many wheels to choose from with this caster The Mounting Plate: 4″ x 4 1/2″, bolt pattern: 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3”. Built with an electrolytic finish for polishing and smoothness, the Stainless Steel Model 9 is 100% NSF and ROHS compliant. Overall, this Model 9 is great for wet, corrosive environments such as bakeries, boating, autoclaves, labs, medical waste, food processing, cruise ships, fisheries, and much more! If your application use is abrasive and mechanically powered, consider our G15 model which can handle up to 1500 lbs with the same wheel choice as the Model 9 SS. Some wheels come with greater ratings in Stainless Steel Caster Model G15 due to the caster’s better performance. The G15 is rugged and can handle more abuse. This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. The blue all polyurethane (“AP”) caster wheel is manufactured in 2” wide; with diameters ranging from 4”-8”. Caster City manufactures this (“AP”) blue all polyurethane wheel to come with a roller bearing, delrin bearings, or a sealed precision ball bearing and all bearing options are available in stainless steel as well.
These wheels are non marking and non conductive. The absence of a metal center eliminates bond failure as a cause for wheel replacement. These caster wheels are especially suited for use with stainless steel casters in wet and corrosive applications. They are designed for use in Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Hospitals, and Food Processing Plants – wherever a clean sanitary design is desired. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads. Hardness is 60 – 65 Durometer Shore D. Temperature range is -20° to 180° F.
These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation.
If a static load on this tire exceeds 60% of the rated capacity and is left unmoved for a prolonged period of time, the tire may develop a flat spot. Durometer : Shore D 60.
Applications for Stainless Steel Model 9:
- Food Processing Heavy-duty ingredient carts, mobile processing equipment, washdown-ready maintenance carts
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Cleanroom transport carts, sterile equipment movers, heavy lab instrument transport
- Chemical Processing Chemical container transport carts, mobile reactors, maintenance tool carts
- Marine and Coastal Dock and shipboard cargo carts, fish processing equipment movers, coastal facility machinery transport
- Healthcare Heavy medical equipment transport (e.g., MRI, CT scanners), sterilizer and autoclave movers, supply and laundry carts
- Laboratories Hazardous material transport carts, sensitive equipment movers, mobile workstations
- Water Treatment Chemical feed system carts, filter and pump transport, maintenance equipment movers
- Automotive and Aerospace Parts and component transport in corrosive areas, tool and die movers, assembly line equipment transport
FAQ
Blue All Polyurethane Wheel with Stainless Steel Model 9 – FAQ & Description
FAQ – Questions & Answers
What’s the Stainless Steel Model 9 with the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel built for?
It’s a heavy-duty caster designed for wet, corrosive environments—think bakeries, food processing, labs, or even cruise ships. The solid blue polyurethane wheel handles sanitary and washdown needs, rolling smooth indoors or out.
What makes the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel on this caster so tough?
This wheel’s a solid polyurethane piece—no core, no tread separation. It shrugs off oil, grease, water, and most chemicals, even up to 10% acidity, and keeps going in harsh conditions without marking floors.
What’s the deal with the Model 9’s stainless steel frame?
Made from 304 stamped stainless steel with an electrolytic finish, it’s 100% NSF and ROHS compliant. The greased fitting in the bearing and axle keeps things moving easy, and it’s built to last in corrosive spots.
What bearing options come with the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
You’ve got choices: roller bearings, delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, all in stainless steel. They’re built to handle wet environments without rusting or slowing down.
How tough is the polyurethane on this wheel?
It’s got a Shore 60-65D durometer—hard enough for low rolling resistance and durability, but not so hard it’ll crack under pressure. Temperature range is -20° to 180° F, so it’s good for cold or hot spots.
Can I use brakes with the Model 9 caster?
Yep, you’ve got two options: a swivel brake or a total lock brake. But heads up—don’t order the total lock brake with a swivel lock or raceway seals; they won’t work together.
What industries should use this caster?
It’s a fit for food processing, hospitals, pharmaceutical labs, fisheries, and more—anywhere you need clean, sanitary design and corrosion resistance. If your setup’s more abusive, check out our G15 model instead.
Will the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel hold up under static loads?
It’ll do fine if the static load stays under 60% of its rated capacity. Any more than that for too long, and you might get a flat spot—don’t overload it when parked.
How does this wheel compare to bonded polyurethane wheels?
No metal core means no bond failure. This solid design won’t delaminate, making it more durable than standard polyurethane wheels that are bonded to a core, especially in wet conditions.
Can I use this caster outdoors?
Absolutely—the solid polyurethane wheel rolls indoors or out, and the stainless steel frame handles weather and corrosion without breaking a sweat.
Does the Model 9 caster need a lot of maintenance?
Not really. The greased fitting keeps the bearing and axle moving, and the sealed bearing options cut down on upkeep. Just check for wear now and then to keep it rolling smooth.
Is this caster compatible with standard setups?
Yep, it’s got a 4″ x 4-1/2″ mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3”, and a ½” stainless steel axle. Fits most industrial equipment no problem.
What if my application is mechanically powered and rough?
If you’re dealing with abrasive, powered use, the Model 9 might not be your best bet. Look at our G15 model—it’s more rugged and can take the abuse better. Call us at 800-501-3808 if you’re unsure.
