Description
5″ All Solid Polyurethane Wheel. The Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 is made using a stamped steel construction and is excellent for corrosive applications. Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 has a ⅜” axle and the swivel bearing is held together by a ½” rivet. The swivel bearing of Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 is defined by two rows of ball bearings to help with thrust loads and changing direction. This caster is excellent for washdown situations due to having no swivel bearing cover or a grease fitting, which helps facilitate water draining through the swivel bearing and raceways. This stem caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1000 lbs on a set of 4 Model K3 casters.
This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. The blue all polyurethane (“AP”) caster wheel is manufactured in 1-¼” and 2” wide; with diameters ranging from 3”-5” and 4”-8”. Caster City manufactures this (“AP”) blue all polyurethane wheel to come with a roller bearing, delrin bearings, or a sealed precision ball bearing and all bearing options are available in stainless steel as well. The temperature range of this industrial caster wheel is -50°to 180° F and the durometer of the polyurethane is Shore 60D.
These wheels are non marking and non conductive. The absence of a metal center eliminates bond failure as a cause for wheel replacement. These caster wheels are especially suited for use with stainless steel casters in wet and corrosive applications. They are designed for use in Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Hospitals, and Food Processing Plants – wherever a clean sanitary design is desired. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads. Hardness is 60 – 65 Durometer Shore D. Temperature range is -20° to 180° F.
These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation.
FAQ
Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel
What is the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel is a light-duty caster made from stamped 304 stainless steel, designed for wet, corrosive environments. It features a 4″ blue all polyurethane (AP) wheel (also available in 3″ to 5″ and 4″ to 8″ diameters, 1-1/4″ or 2″ widths) with a Shore 60D-65D durometer, operating from -20°F to 180°F. The swivel has a double ball raceway with a 1/2″ stainless steel rivet, a 3/8″ axle bolt, and supports up to 1000 lbs for a set of four casters.
What environments is the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel suited for?
This caster is designed for pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, and food processing plants requiring sanitary designs. Its 304 stainless steel frame and all polyurethane wheel resist rust and chemicals in wet or corrosive conditions, making it suitable for washdown applications while meeting NSF and ROHS standards for hygiene.
What is the weight capacity of the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel supports up to 1000 lbs for a set of four casters (250 lbs per caster) for manual movement. To avoid overloading, divide the total equipment load by the number of casters, ensuring each caster’s capacity exceeds the calculated load for uneven surfaces or dynamic forces.
What is the temperature range of the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
The all polyurethane wheel operates in temperatures from -20°F to 180°F, suitable for light-duty applications in washdown or sanitary settings. For higher temperature needs, such as autoclaving, consult Caster City at 800-501-3808 to explore alternative wheel options.
What are the key features of the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
It features a 304 stainless steel frame, a double ball raceway swivel with a 1/2″ rivet, and a 3/8″ axle bolt with an optional lube axle. The 4″ all polyurethane wheel (Shore 60D-65D) is non-marking, non-conductive, and has no metal center, with bearing options like roller, Delrin, or sealed precision ball bearings in stainless steel. It lacks a dust cap and grease fitting for better washdown drainage.
What wheel options are available for the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Model K3 comes with a 4″ all polyurethane wheel (also available in 3″ to 5″ and 4″ to 8″ diameters, 1-1/4″ or 2″ widths) with bearing options including roller bearings, Delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, all available in stainless steel. These wheels are designed for sanitary and washdown applications but not for shock, overloading, or poor floors.
Is the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel resistant to chemicals?
Yes, the 304 stainless steel frame resists corrosion from water, chemicals, and washdowns. The all polyurethane wheel resists oils, cleaning solutions, solvents, and acids, making it suitable for food processing, labs, and healthcare settings with frequent sanitation.
What is the durometer of the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
The all polyurethane wheel has a Shore D durometer of 60 to 65, providing a hard, durable surface that withstands light-duty use while maintaining smooth rolling and floor protection in sanitary applications.
What is the lead time for the Economy Stainless Steel Stem Caster Model K3 with All Polyurethane Wheel?
