Total Locking StemCaster Model 3A
“If you want help making a selection, call: 800-501-3808”
Capacity up to 300 pounds per caster. These institutional casters are ideal for any light duty application where the caster must be totally immobile when the caster brake is applied. Caster Model 3A has a unique brake which locks both the wheel and the swivel bearing at the same time. This “Total-Lock” brake insures that the swivel caster will not turn when the wheel is locked. This combination wheel brake and swivel lock is essential for safety in some applications – such as on worktables, tablesaws, and medical equipment. The Total-Lock brake is desireable whenever a brake is needed because it makes a swivel caster totally immobile.
We do not provide the nuts to attach threaded stem casters. Threaded Stem Casters should NOT be used as a "Leveling Device"! The weight should be supported by the top of the swivel bearing of the caster, not somewhere above it on the threaded stem.
Total Locking Brake:
Combination Wheel Brake and Swivel Lock – This brake simultaneously locks the wheel and the swivel. One step on the activating pedal instantly locks the entire caster holding the equipment firmly in place. One step on the release pedal frees the swivel and wheel.

T-Nuts for Threaded Stems:
T-Nuts can be used to secure our threaded stem casters to wooden items. Here we show the typical use of the T-Nut for both a Horizontal and a Vertical Application.
In the Horizontal Application, you would drill a hole equal to the diameter of the barrel of the T-Nut and completely thru your wood. Hammer the T-Nut into the hole and thread your caster in from the bottom. This is the strongest mounting.
The Vertical Application is for attaching casters to the bottom of legs and into the end grain of the wood. This is not an exceptionally strong way to mount! Drill your hole equal to the diameter of the barrel of the T-Nut and to the depth of the length of the stem of the caster plus about 1/4″. Apply 2 part epoxy to the T-Nut for additional strength. Hammer the T-Nut into the hole and thread your caster in from the bottom. You must use epoxy as we have had problems with some woods where the nuts ( and the casters ) fall off.
The wheels featured with Caster Model 3A are non-marking. Gray Soft Rubber and Polyurethane wheels have a sealed precision ball bearing. They provide floor and cargo protection, quiet operation, and are very easy rolling. Try a set of 4 casters. You will be amazed at their performance!
Total Locking StemCaster Model 3A with Wheels
Typical Application Use for the Total Locking Stem Caster Model 3A Series:
Swivel Radius for Casters with the Total-Lock Brake – ALL SIZES – 4 3/8″
Use the Polyolefin ( Industrial Plastic ) wheel for “Standing Loads”. Polyolefin wheels eliminate the possiblilty of a flat spot developing if the castered equipment is left parked for a prolong period.
Threaded Stem Casters should NOT be used as a “Leveling Device”! Capacity ratings are based on the weight being directly on the top of the swivel bearing, not somewhere above it on the threaded stem.
